Product Review: Boots No 7 Beautiful Skin Eye Make-Up Remover

Boots no 7 eye 1

I picked up this little gem last week also, and it's now become a firm skincare staple for me! As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm on a beauty spending ban this month and so the only new things I'm buying are the essentials, I had another Boots £5 off skincare voucher and thought I'd use it to buy a new bottle of eye make-up remover.

I love to build up my mascara for volume as I have tiny mole eyes with undefined eyelashes otherwise. This means I often wear about three coats and my current favourite (review of it coming soon!) is a beaut for this! It does however mean it's stubborn to remove.

As I reviewed in my previous post, I use the No 7 Boots Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes to remove my face make-up on most lazy days which are fab for sweeping off most of my makeup. Sometimes though I need something extra to make sure my lashes are fully clean and free from mascara. I pop this onto a cotton pad and hold over my eye whilst gently massaging it around my eyelashes, essentially loosening the mascara so I can then sweep it off.

What it says: "This gentle dual action formula conditions while it cleanses, removing all traces of eye make-up even waterproof mascara"

"Ophthalmologist tested. Fragrance free and and suitable for sensitive eyes"

The pros
  • Very gentle! I love the formula, it's quite oily but this is fab for conditioning my lashes, it really works and leaves my eyes clean ready for another build up of mascara!
  • The colour - shallow, but the vivid blue is so appealing. It reminds me of swimming pools! For some reason, this makes me want to use it on my eyes...?!
  • Secure packaging - I tend to travel a lot and forth back to Shropshire to see my family and one of my main worries is that my eye make-up remover (or nail varnish remover or contact lense solution!) will leak in my bag. This cap screws on and is very secure so I have faith none of the product will find its way on to my make-up or clothes!

The cons
  • It isn't the most affordable - I've used other eye make-up removers which do the same job which are more affordable, as without the voucher this retails at £8.50.
  • The size - this product is only 100ml which isn't a massive amount; it's great if you like to switch up your skincare and try out to new things but as a staple I think this is quite expensive for what it is.

Product Review: Boots No 7 Beautiful Skin Quick Thinking Wipes

boots no 7 1

This month, I've put myself on a complete beauty spending ban (oh the joys of being a grown up and having to save money - groan!) except for the complete essentials. I'd ran out of makeup wipes (I know not the most hygenic way of removing makeup, but when you're tired and almost falling asleep whilst taking off your makeup, they are a saviour!) and remembered I had a Boots voucher for £5 off skincare (yay!).

I popped into Boots after work to grab some and thought I'd try these out, and can honestly say I'm positively impressed!

What they say: "Specially created for when you're short of time, these gentle, fragrance free wipes, sweep away impurities and remove all traces of makeup, even waterproof mascara."

"With Pro-vitamin B5 to moisturise and soften, plus extracts of witch hazel and fennel to clear pores and leave your skin feeling smooth and fresh."

The pros
  • Resealable packaging - fab to keep the wipes moist, it's awful when wipes are dry and trying to take up your  makeup off with them feels like you might as well be rubbing your face with tissues, so this for me is a great feature.
  • The size - something I've found with cheaper wipes such as supermarket own brands is they are tiny and often it can take me two or three wipes to clean my entire face (and I don't pile the makeup on!). These are a generous size and one is enough for me to remove the majority of my makeup!
  • The scent - I don't think these are 100% fragrance free, to me these smell of moisturiser which is a bonus, they don't smell artificial or of household cleaning products!
  • They work! They do indeed remove my mascara which isn't waterproof but I do like to build my mascara up (oh how I love my tiny eyes..!). I also love they contain witch hazel, it's one of my favourite things to use on my skin as I feel it really helps keep it clear.
  • The aftermath - my skin is left feeling very soft and clean, there is no residue left and even the next morning my skin still feels refreshed and ready for my morning skin routine!

The cons
  • The price - at £7 a pop, without the voucher these are quite expensive for face wipes and I think this is the only thing that would stop would me buying these outright.

You can find these in most Boots stores and online here.

April Favourites 2013

April Favourites 2

So after a little blogging break of a rather long time, I'm finally back to doing what I've been wanting to do for the past six and a half months, yay! I thought I'd start by sharing products I've been loving throughout the month of April as I love to read everyone else's favourites!

Albert Balsam 2

My first favourite this month is this shampoo - it has no joke, transformed my hair! I am forever on the hunt for the perfect, thickening, damage repairing, frizz reducing, miracle, magical shampoo, and it's safe to say over the past few months a substantial chunk of my wedges helps fund this quest. Until one evening whilst perusing the internet, I read about how you should buy a shampoo for your scalp and not for your hair as that's what conditioner is for. Sounds so logical now but I had honestly never thought of this! The roots of my hair are not damaged, frizz prone, dry and are generally how I wish the rest of my hair was. So I purchased this super cheap shampoo from shampoo from Tesco for about £1 and I am in love!

It smells delicious and really leaves my hair feeling super soft and clean but not lacking moisture; I tend to wash my hair every other day and this is perfect for keeping it in healthy condition. I'm not sure about whether it truly 'tingles' but I don't think I'm particularly bothered by this!? Another fab thing about this shampoo is a little goes a long way - I've been using this for about three weeks now and washed my hair approximately 10 or so times, and so far so good!

Boots Coconut almond conditioner 2

Another product I have been loving to use this month in order to improve the condition of my hair is this beauty. I picked it up from Oxford Street Boots one evening in April after one of my best friends and I decided to go late night shopping after our dinner catch up! It only cost £1.39 and what a good £1.39 spent it was! The smell isn't too overpowering or perfume like, but very nourishing.

After I've washed and conditioned my hair and left my hair in its towel for a good 20 minutes, I'll pop a little bit of Moroccan Oil Light on the ends and then liberally spray this all over my hair and comb through with a wide tooth comb. Because it's so light I find I'm fine to comb this through from my roots to tips without my hair looking greasy (the worst!). I then go ahead and dry my hair as usual - sometimes if I've washed my hair before bed I'll spray a bit extra on the ends and let it work in overnight. The result is my hair feels lovely and soft and smells incredible, I don't know about anyone else but I love it when I can still smell the conditioner on my hair the next day haha.

Tangle Teezer 2

I never realised how much of a favourite this month this was until I tidied it away lost it earlier this month, and sheer panic set in. I love using my wide tooth comb when my hair is wet but using it on dry hair doesn't feel like it's really de-tangling my hair, and using a normal hairbrush is just no comparison! It feels like i'm ragging a cheese grater through my hair now after I discovered the Tangle Teezer!

Marc Jacobs Perfume 2

This is the perfect Spring scent! It's so subtle and long lasting, I absolutely love it. I purchased it from Debenhams about three months ago and haven't used it a great deal until the weather picked up in April and we finally got to enjoy some rare days of sunshine after what has seemed like the longest Winter ever! I can see this being a firm favourite throughout the Spring and Summer months.

Palmer's lip balm 1

I am obsessed with lip products! I have quite full lips (I know people pay for these but I find them somewhat annoying because it means more delicate skin having to face the harsh British weather!) and it's so tricky to keep them moisturised. I'm going to do a review of all the lipbalms I have soon, but for now this is my favourite! I keep it in my handbag at all times and pop it on throughout the day, it works into the lips rather than just lying on top (I hate it when this happens - Nivea, I'm looking at you!). Definitely a great buy for the price and something I'll be repurchasing.

If you have any product recommendations for me, definitely let me know below as I love to try new things! ♥
